A Look
at the South Beach Diet
The South Beach Diet,
developed by renowned cardiologist Arthur Agatston, M.D., has introduced
America to a whole new way of eating. It teaches you how to eat
the right carbs and the right fats, in order to lose weight and
improve your health. So how does it work? How can you lose 8 to
13 lbs in just two weeks? Let's take a closer look:
The South Beach
Diet is divided into three unique phases:
Phase
One -- During the first two weeks of your program, you
will work to banish your cravings. Instead of baked goods, bread,
pasta, potatoes, or rice your diet will be comprised of: Meats,
poultry, fish and shell fish Vegetables (Plenty of Salads) Eggs
Cheese Nuts.
You will eat three balanced
meals, as well as two snacks daily. The great aspect of this program
is you always get full! You can even have dessert. Drink plenty
of water and you can also enjoy your favorite coffee and tea.
It is important to note
that during your first 14 days on the program, sugar is off-limits
(no fruit, no beer or wine, no cookies, cakes or ice cream). Two
weeks without your morning Danish may seem impossible, but you will
be pleasantly surprised by how quickly your cravings subside.

Phase Two
-- The first two weeks have changed you in more ways than you know.
Your body chemistry is starting to change and you have made major
strides toward ridding yourself of bad eating habits (the same habits
that led to an unhealthy weight). Now you can begin to reintroduce
good carbs to your diet.
Fruit, pasta, bread,
cereal, even chocolate can be re-introduced during Phase 2. The
secret? You will pick and choose what indulgences to allow. Remember,
your goal is to maintain a new lifestyle. You may not be able to
have bread every day, but you can once or twice a week. The bottom
line is that you can enjoy some of your old favorites, while continuing
to lose weight.

Phase Three
-- You've done it! You have reached a healthy weight and now you
are intent on maintaining your newfound figure. Phase Three is really
a way of life. You can enjoy normal foods and portions, by remembering
what you have learning along your journey. And don't forget, that
in addition to enhancing your appearance, you have enhanced your
health!
